 Bora Baki

Zeynep and Bora Baki, with their two sons Tolga and Kerem, moved to the
Washington D.C. area from their native land of western Turkey in 1979. With
little more than their possessions at the time, Bora quickly realized the
American dream and became a successful entrepreneur. After 23 years and several
profitable businesses that have little to do with agriculture, Bora decided to
retire to the beautiful country.
Unable to sit still for long, his family fondly remembers his thoughts in the
winter of 2002, "I need a hobby. I think I'll grow a couple of vines and make
some wine for me and my friends." At the time, his family wasn't aware that
Bora considered the entire metropolitan Washington area to be his personal
friends. And with this retirement vision of a restless entrepreneur,
Hillsborough Vineyards was born.
