Our Winemaker and Staff
Kerem Baki discovered his love for wine making while majoring in Biochemistry at Virginia Tech’s Undergraduate College of Science. After working in the local industry for one year upon receiving his degree, Kerem returned to Virginia Tech in 2001 for the Enology Graduate program under the tutelage of Dr. Bruce Zoecklein.
During his graduate studies, Kerem managed and reported on many vineyard and wine production projects in direct correlation to the Virginia wine industry. Simultaneously, he created Hillsborough Vineyards with his family – a renowned vineyard & winery of Northern Virginia specializing in the small batch production of complex wines that are in harmony with the terrain of Virginia.
In addition to Hillsborough Vineyards, Kerem also participates in various industry projects around Virginia, both as an independent consultant and as part of advisory boards. His latest ambition has been as an educator of vitaculture & enology to help facilitate newcomers and current industry members alike.
